Dear Applicant/Ride Along:

River Falls Area Ambulance Service is a progressive Service providing pre-hospital emergency medical services at the Paramedic level.  We only employ the most dedicated EMT’s willing to commit to a minimum of two years of service.   Along with the two years commitment, we encourage our members to advance to the Paramedic level as soon as feasible.

Monthly duties include attending business meetings and training sessions on the first three Wednesday’s of each month from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m.  Our members are also required to be able to be scheduled a minimum of five 12-hour shifts or a total of 60 hours on call per month.  Of the 60 hours, a total of 24 must be on weekends.  Our shifts run from 6am to 6pm and 6pm to 6am.

River Falls Ambulance operates using four ambulances, two Paramedic quick response vehicles and a 20 foot multiple response trailer.  We are a paid volunteer service with an annual run volume around 1400 calls for a rough average of 3.8 calls per day.

We serve approximately 32,000 people within the City of River Falls and surrounding areas.  Our rural service area is 180 square miles.

River Falls Ambulance holds a membership roster of 52 EMT’s.

All applications remain on file and are reviewed periodically by the hiring committee.  Interviews are conducted immediately as openings occur. EMT-Basic classes are held annually August through December.  Classes are usually two evenings per week from 6-10pm.  Occasional spring classes are also held depending on the number of people interested.  Contact the ambulance office for further information regarding spring classes.

If you are interested in riding along to see if EMS is for you, please download a ride along waiver form and mail it back to the ambulance station.  You should then download the ride along letter for riding instructions.  You will then have to be scheduled to ride along with our daytime crew any time between 9am to 10pm.
