River Falls First Responders, Inc. - Business Meeting Minutes for Wednesday, June 19 from 6:15 to 6:50 PM

 

1.    Roll Call, Introductions

Joe Covelli called the meeting to order at 6:18 pm.

Sign-in sheet was passed around along with training sign-in sheet

 

2.    Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes

Valerie Nygaard motioned to approve the May 2002 meeting minutes

Davey Keatley seconded the motion

Motion carried unanimously

 

3.    Treasurer's Report / Checking Account Balance

Tim Heineman read the RFFR account balance as $289.28

 

4.    Administrative Director's Report

 

a)         Ambulance Ride-A-Long Schedule

July schedule is posted next to the ambulance schedule for FRs to sign-up on.

 

b)        River Falls Days, TRAM, KC Chiefs Involvement

Schedules are done and will be posted next to the activity board.  Tentatively they are as follows:

5.    President's Report

 

            a)         Grant Funding Update

Wal-Mart-$1200 grant pending

RF United Way grant pending

Anderson Bayport Foundation grant pending

Federal grant-  Prudential list?  Please clarify Joe!

 

            b)         Fall Training Class

Currently there are 13 from River Falls and 2 fro Hudson.

Scheduled to start Aug. ?-Joe advise!

 

            c)         Motion to Accept Members

Motion was made by Mary Waters to officially accept(names here!) as members of the River Falls First Responders, Inc.

Motion was seconded by Davey Keatley

Motion carried unanimously

 

            d)         Emergency Services Day Outcome

~700 people attended

Brat Stand sold $795.00

Food donated by Dick's

Luther Brotherhood match $600.00

Total proceeds- $1395.00

 

            e)        Create Captain Positions By Townships/Discuss

David Johnson, Shelly Bilicke, Valerie Nygaard and Joe Covelli will meet to determine roles and responsibilities of Township Captain.

 

            g)         River Falls Day Parade, Friday, July 12th

RFFRs to have Brat stand and Root Beer Floats during parade

Area in front of station and house will be roped off in advance to save for family and friends of volunteers.

 

            f)        Federal Determination Letter Update, Amend By Laws as Instructed By Federal Govt.

Motion made by Dan Gedatus to amend the RFFRs by-laws pertaining to our 501C3 Corp. identification which states we are nonprofit/tax exempt.  This is to coincide with Federal Govt.  instructions.  Joe advise!

Carried unanimously

6.    Vice President's Report

 

            a)        Tri-County EMS Assn Report

VP is now a member of the Tri-County EMS Assn.

Encourages everyone to come and attend the quarterly meetings

$25 annual membership fee applies

 

7.    Training Officer's Report-N/A

 

8.    Equipment Officer's Report-N/A

 

 

9.    Develop Run Report (David Johnson)

Preliminary final draft will be printed at $78.00 for 500 and then distributed.

Form was based with the understanding that FRs have ~4 minutes to gather as much info and assess scene before ambulance crew arrives.

 

10.  Picture Roster In Ambulances

A photo roster including  First Responder's names, phone#s and FR # are in each ambulance. 

This tool will be used for ID purposes between RF Ambulance crews and RFFRs.

 

11.  Tax Accounting for Volunteer Deductibility (Stacy)

As of 6/19/02 no standard form can be found.  FRs are advised to seek information fro their individual tax preparer.

 

 

12.    Discuss Training with River Falls Ambulance and Fire

Dispatcher from Pierce and St. Croix Counties trained the RFFRs and RF Ambulance members on map reading.

Tours of each County's Dispatch Center were given following the training session.

 

13.    Town Board Presentations

 

            a)         Update on Presentations Troy, Clifton, Kinni, Pleasant Valley, Town RF

Presentations are complete for all township boards.  An overall great response from board members on the value this program will bring to their communities.

 

            b)         Purchase of AEDs.

Kinnickinnic to purchase 3 AEDs in the next 3 years.

All other Townships were confident they could work it into their next year's budget.

 

14.    Open Discussion

 

            a)         Valerie Nygaard - Hudson P.D. Radio Donation

Hudson P.D. to donate ~15 Motorola radios.

Radios will need crystals replaced in order to program to RF channels.

These will be in addition to Nextel phones if approved by group.

 

            b)         Shelly - West Wind Golf Tournament

5-10 volunteers needed for WestWind's Annual Golf Tournament on July 9th, 2002

Volunteers are asked to be at Kilkarney Golf Course at 12pm

            c)        Dave - Nextel Phones

Dave presented options and lay out of potential service agreement with Nextel-"Direct Connect" phones for FR communication.
